A Bachelor’s degree is required.
A Master’s degree is preferred.

The Assistant Director, Leadership & Development will support the Associate Athletics Director, Leadership & Inclusion in leading all aspects of Colgate Athletics student-athlete development programming, including but not limited to programs and initiatives that support academic success, career development, and community engagement. The position will be responsible for assisting in fostering an engaged student-athlete population in order to enhance their overall experience that lead to positive contributions to the campus and local community.
Development & Leadership
Goals of this program include facilitating an inclusive and diverse community for student-athletes to thrive within, as well as the continued growth of relationships with campus partners (such as Career Services, ALANA Cultural Center, the LGBTQ community, Shaw Wellness Institute, etc.) and the continued pursuit of dynamic and engaging programming (such as outside speakers, community events, etc.). This role shall contribute to various areas of this development and leadership programming that supports personal growth and community engagement, which may include but are not limited to:
Academic Success & Support
Colgate Athletics’ academic support services are intended to serve as a supplement, rather than a replacement, to the resources and support provided by the greater campus community to all students, such as faculty (academic) advisors, administrative deans, disability support services, tutoring, etc. This office is dedicated to assisting student-athletes in navigating Colgate and campus life, balancing potential conflicts that may arise due to time demands, and helping to educate on NCAA and Patriot League eligibility regulations.
This position will assist in these pursuits by supporting assigned sport programs in the following ways:
This position is expected to maintain a working knowledge of Colgate University academic policies and procedures, as well as a general understanding of NCAA and Patriot League academic eligibility requirements.
This position may also aid in the supervision of student workers as assigned.

This position has been designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA), in accordance with the federal statutory requirements of the Jeanne Clery Act. CSAs are required to and responsible for reporting allegations of crimes they receive from students and employees to the Campus Safety Department.

The Department of Campus Safety will provide upon request a copy of Colgate’s Annual Security and Fire Safety Report. This report includes statistics as reported to the United States Department of Education for the previous three years concerning reported: 1. crimes that occurred on-campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by Colgate University; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from, the campus and 2. fires that occurred in student housing facilities. The report also includes institutional policies concerning campus security and fire safety, such as policies concerning sexual assault, life safety systems, and other related matters.
