The Assistant Director of Football Video position is a professional position that is responsible for producing primarily external creative content specifically focused on the LSU Football program. This role produces a variety of content including longform feature content, social media, in-venue video board pieces and more.
This position collaborates with the Football Creative team, media relations, marketing and promotions teams, creative services, creative content, communications, LSU Sports Properties, and NIL to develop storytelling, features and messaging. Must have a strong content creation background, creative ideas and have a proven track record for creating high level content. Ability to work in a team/collaborative environment is a must.
55% Responsible for covering practices, team events, and home and away LSU Football games, shooting and editing both short and long-form video content pieces, and other similar projects representing the LSU Football program. This position works with the Executive Director of Social Media and Branding and Assistant Director of Football Video to create a style and schedule for external video.
Maintain consistent relationships with the LSU Football staff, Communications Department, Creative Content Department, marketing and promotions teams, NIL and Sports Properties, which include but are not limited to weekly content meetings, travel, pitching and producing football-specific content, creating football-specific in-venue videos, collaborating on large concept projects (Ex: intro video shoots, all-access style pieces, pro day, player and coach awards, LSU Football Award Show etc.), and more.
Responsible for developing original ideas to produce engaging and effective video content using all available resources. Able to guide a project from original concept through production to edit/completion in a timely manner and based on specific requirements and due dates. Schedules, manages and prioritizes projects. Knowledgeable of and ensures compliance with departmental, University, conference and NCAA procedures, rules and regulations.
40% Create video content which is distributed on various external multimedia platforms representing the LSU Football program including the official LSU Football social media pages, in-venue productions, broadcast television, official sports website, etc.
Serves as the football liaison for and assists with producing longform feature content for LSU’s premier content subscription service, LSU+. Work includes pitching ideas for the weekly in-season series, The Path, and producing segments as assigned.
5% Advances and supports LSU and Athletics Department initiatives through personal participation in educational and developmental opportunities, as well as participation in the creation of a a respectful culture consistent with the values of LSU and its Athletics Department; Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Graphic Design, Multimedia, Animation, Film, or similar field of study with two years of related experience; Strong understanding of production / post-production process; Experience in video production and non-linear editing; Working knowledge and experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, Photoshop, After Effects, etc.) and Apple computers; Working knowledge of video production equipment; operating cameras, microphones, tripods, stabalizers, etc.; Proven content creation skills in a high paced, demanding professional setting. Preferred Qualifications
Three years related experience; Experience with professional or collegiate sports teams; Motion graphic skills.
Special or Physical Qualifications
Ability to work events and games which often include extended days, nights and weekends; Travel is required.
