ADMINISTRATIVE POSITION DESCRIPTION
TITLE OF POSITION:Assistant Director of Strength and Conditioning
DEPARTMENT: Athletics
POSITION REPORTS TO: Assistant Athletic Director / Director of Strength and Conditioning
Salary: $61,000 - $62,800
OVERVIEW:
Manhattan University, an NCAA Division I institution and member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), is seeking applications for a full-time (12 month) Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach. The strength and conditioning coaches will report directly to the Assistant AD/Director of Strength and Conditioning. The Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach is responsible for designing, directing and implementing periodized, evidence-based, sport specific programs for all Division I athletic programs. The strength coach must be certified and able to assess and evaluate each student-athlete's movement and program individual needs to improve physical development; help reduce injuries; and enhance athletic performance. The strength coach will serve as a resource to student-athletes for providing educational resources about nutrition, supplements and diet.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Program design for all teams assigned by the Director of Strength and Conditioning.
Create individual and team specific training programs that are tailored for specific goals relevant to necessary athletics qualities, specific to their sport, and adequately prepares and conditions student-athletes for practice and competition.
Provide student-athletes with training plans for all 12 months, including summer and winter breaks.
Student-Athletes require hands-on attention during all strength and conditioning related sessions including team or individual lifts, conditioning sessions, recovery sessions, and occasionally warm-ups for practices and games.
Manage day to day facility operations of the Student-Athlete weight room and other Strength and Conditioning Staff including a part-time assistant, volunteers, interns, and exercise science student-workers.
Work closely with Sports Medicine Staff to design and implement return to play protocols, as well as modifications for limitations due to injury.
Collaborate and meet regularly with Sport Coaches regarding their team’s needs and reporting any updates prevalent to their team.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree from a college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization in strength and conditioning, preferably in kinesiology, physiology or exercise related field.
Current certification through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) or the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA) and certification in CPR/AED Training.
All working knowledge of NCAA and MAAC rules and regulations.
Possess a valid driver's license.
Potential required travel and the ability to work nights, weekends and holidays.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, strong attention to detail and keep specific timelines.
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to problem solve.
Ability to work effectively with coaches, students, faculty, administration, alumni, and community.
