Position Summary Information
| Primary Purpose |
The Assistant Director, Sports Medicine will assist in the planning, coordination, operation, and evaluation of athletic training operations for the intercollegiate athletics program.

| Essential Functions |
- Supervises athletic training students.
- Serves as a preceptor for the student athletic training program.
- Aids in administration of athletic training program policies and procedures.
- Monitors student athletic trainers’ clinical responsibilities including clinical hours and proficiencies.
- Administers daily treatment, rehabilitation, and preventative measures for student-athletes.
- Attends team practices, competitions, and summer team activities.
- Supervises illness/injury referral program with Director of Athletic Training, physician, and Director of Athletic Performance.
- Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

| Minimum Qualifications |
- Bachelor’s Degree in athletic training or related field.
- Six (6) months of internship experience in a sports medicine-related field or nine (9) units of completed coursework in a sports medicine-related field.
- NATABOC certification.
- CPR, AED, and First Aid certification.

| Preferred Qualifications |
- Master’s Degree.
- Collegiate experience.
- Advanced knowledge of human physiology, kinesiology, and anatomy.
- Ability to assess athletic injuries and conditions in student-athletes and develop action plans for desired results.
- Understanding and knowledge of best practices to ensure student-athlete welfare.
- Solid knowledge of NCAA and conference rules and regulations.
- Proficient in and comfortable with public speaking.
- Ability to motivate student-athletes and student athletic trainers to achieve expected results.
- Good time management and organizational skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic computer skills including basic proficiency with MS Office.
- Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
- Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

Work Environment/Work Week/Travel:
Work is performed primarily in standard office environment during standard business hours. Work will also be required during non-regular office hours to fulfill business needs.
Valid driver’s license required. Incumbent must also be able to meet the University’s fleet rules and be eligible to drive for University business. The University and its insurance carrier reserves the right to exclude applicants based on their driving record.
