Job Description
The Assistant Director, Strength and Conditioning at Tarleton State University plays a pivotal role in enhancing athletic performance, reducing injury risks, and fostering a culture of excellence among student-athletes. This full-time, 12-month position focuses on fostering athletic excellence and supporting student-athletes. Key responsibilities include developing training programs, assessing and educating athletes, monitoring progress. Additionally, the role is highly collaborative as it involves working with coaches, trainers, and medical support staff to support the athlete’s overall well-being.
Work hours: Mon-Fri; 8 AM-5 PM or as work requirements indicate; which may include nights and weekends. Must have the ability to work remotely at the request of the university in times of inclement weather or other special circumstances. Campus Security Authority (CSA).
Job Responsibilities
60% Coaching/mentoring duties:
Coaches student athletes in their strength and conditioning training- in the weight room, on the field or court, or in varied locations.
Designs and implements strength training and conditioning programs tailored to athletes' needs during in-season, off-season, and pre-season.
Evaluate athletes' physical abilities and weaknesses to create personalized training plans.
Teaches athletes proper techniques, injury prevention, and recovery methods.
Track athletes' progress and adjust training regimens as needed.
40% Administrative duties
Works closely with sport coaches, medical professionals, and nutritionists to ensure athletes' overall well-being – to include the planning, meeting with coaches and/or strength staff, setting up facilities, or other duties related to preparation for work with student athletes.
Supervises graduate assistants, interns, and student assistants.
Education and Experience:
Bachelors degree in kinesiology or a related field.
Three (3) years of successful coaching experience, collegiate strength and conditioning coaching experience, and/or extensive professional or Olympic athletic experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Related experience may be considered.
Registrations, Certifications, and Licenses:
A strength and conditioning related certification required.

GENERAL EXPECTATIONS OF POSITION:
Conduct is expected to be professional and courteous. Duties and responsibilities are to be carried out in a manner which promotes and is consistent with the intrinsic goals of Tarleton State University.
This is a full-time, twelve-month position annually.

The target base annual salary range is commensurate with experience and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
