The Division of Intercollegiate Athletics (DIA) invites applications for an Assistant Ticket Manager to support ticket operations. In addition, the Assistant Ticket Manager will play a critical role in supporting the broader strategic priorities of the DIA, and ultimately this position will help foster a life-changing experience for student-athletes.

Job Summary

Position is part of a larger team that has responsibility for all ticketing functions for athletic and other events for the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics (DIA) and State Farm Center. This position would be responsible for all aspects of ticketing for Volleyball and Women's Basketball, would coordinate and oversee ticketing for assigned State Farm Center concerts and special events, and assist in overseeing day to day operations of the ticket office.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Ticket Office Operations

  • Lead all ticket office operational efforts for Volleyball and Women's Basketball;
  • Serve as secondary ticket office liaison for ticketed State Farm Center concerts and special events;
  • Serve as liaison between Associate Athletic Director for Ticketing and customers as it relates to annual renewals, coordinate ticket allocation and oversee printing and distribution;
  • Work in collaboration with other DIA units including but not limited to Marketing, Event Management and Facilities to produce and execute a world class game day experience;
  • Responsible for building event infrastructure using the Paciolan ticketing system for assigned sports, using that information to oversee and ensure ticket accuracy, and ticket distribution for each event;
  • Assist with parking requests for Football and Men’s Basketball as directed by Associate Athletic Director for Ticketing;
  • Provide assistance with the supervision and maintenance of reconciliation processes of all departmental complimentary ticket requests;
  • Work closely with other staff from the Ticket Office, along with staff from the Athletic Financial Operations to analyze distribution of complimentary tickets and identify tax-related issues regarding ticket issuance;
  • Responsible for monitoring daily email communication with customers using illinitickets@illinois.edu;
  • Assist DIA Compliance Office in the issuance, tracking and determining compliance of complimentary admissions; and
  • Supervise the reconciliation of gate receipts from athletic events for assigned sports; and
  • Assist with staffing, including participating in the identification, interview, hiring, work assignment and evaluation of temporary or seasonal employees.

• Strategic Engagement and Revenue Generation

  • Engage, interact, and correspond with existing and potential I FUND donors and season ticket holders on issues such as seating (including priority seating) and parking allocation and adjustment and other related issues, all with the goal of cultivating ticket-related gifts;
  • Develop and coordinate sales strategies with the ticket sales team primarily for assigned sports and support ticket sales initiatives for the remaining ticketed sports and events;
  • Coordinate with appropriate staff from the offices of Athletics Communication and Creative Solutions, and External Engagement on the creation, execution, and evaluation of strategic marketing and revenue campaigns;
  • Serve as liaison between the Ticket Office, I-Fund and other departmental units regarding issues related to ticketing; and
  • Anticipate new and emerging ticketing opportunities and stay informed and up to date on the latest industry trends and best practices.

• Data Collection, Analysis and Distribution

  • Analyze ticket data and use to prepare weekly attendance reports for all sales and attendance figures for assigned sports, using this data to provide sales and attendance trends, and how they relate to sales, specials, & special Marketing events; and
  • Record retention and report preparation for NCAA settlements, and Big Ten and University audits.
  • Generate data analytics and customer data reports to drive business strategy and pricing. Executes business strategy plans to increase ticket revenue.
  • Complete detailed year in review reports for assigned sports providing robust summary and analysis of ticketing initiatives and operations and communicate and present reporting to appropriate stakeholders throughout DIA.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree
• A total of One year in education, training, and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position.
• Note: A Master's degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for 1 year of work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience of ticket office operations, sales, and software systems.
• Experience in accounting or sports management.

Appointment Information

This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5002 - Program Coordinator position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 4/1/2024. Salary is commensurate with experience.
