Assistant Esports Coach

Student Affairs (Esports)

 

Position Summary :

Rogers State University is accepting applications for Assistant Esports Coach.  This position will perform a number of tasks across the Esports program at Rogers State University.  This position will foucs primarily on working with 1-2 of the competitive titles within the program, setting weekly schedules, overseeing practices and VOD reviews and assisting the Head Coach with other program-related tasks.

 

Primary Duties/Essential Functions** :**

• Working closely with one or more of the following titles:  League of Legends, Overwatch 2, Rocket League, Smash Ultimate, Valorant;
• Providing strategic coaching for one or more RSU Esports competitive teams;
• Working with Head Coach to create weekly practice/scrimmage schedule;
• Occasionally assisting with/overseeing travel for competitions;
• Assisting with the high school/transfer student outreach & recruitment process.

Reports to** : ** Head Esports Coach & VP of Student Affairs

Hours:   Approximately 15 - 20 hours a week

Position:  FLSA Non-Exempt

Knowledge & Skills** :**

• Competency with the Microsoft suite (primarily Word and Excel);
• Interpersonal communication skills;
• Basic organizational/administrative skills;
• High-level competitive experience and/or ranking in at least one of the varsity titles listed above;
• Ability to work with non-traditional learners and staff/players of all cultures and backgrounds.

Minimum Qualifications :

• Associate's degree

Preferred Qualifications** :**

• Bachelor's degree;
• Some coaching experience, pref. at the scholastic level (high school and/or college);
• Working knowledge of collegiate Esports ecosystem, major conferences;
• Some experience with the athletic/esports recruitment process.
