Summary
Function: Serves as assistant football coach and supervises position group in university-recognized football intercollegiate activities.
Duties
The primary duty of this position is teaching/coaching student athletes to perform their sport. Responsible for but not limited to the following duties: Standard and accepted duties of coaching in various athletic activities. Included as typical coaching duties are team supervision and scheduling. Maintains team discipline and moral standard at all times and on special assignments. Teaches, tutors, instructs or lectures student athletes in the rules and fundamentals of their sport. Instructs student athletes in the areas of physical health, team concepts, and safety; designs instructions for individual or team needs Performs other related duties as assigned
Other duties will be to recruit student-athletes and monitor their academic success.
Responsible for personal safety and the safety of others; must exercise due caution and practice safe work habits at all times.
This is a 12 month position.
Other Specifications: Must have a thorough understanding of specific sports rules, compliance regulations, and conference recruiting rules and policies. May be required to teach in an academic program at the discretion of the Director of Athletics. Expected to develop an appropriate rapport with community and University personnel. Must be knowledgeable of all
NCAA
and conference rules. Must adhere to
NCAA
and conference bylaws. Must be supportive of institutional compliance and academic programs. Must report all
NCAA
and conference violations to proper personnel.
Working Conditions:
Usual: Office conditions, outdoor conditions that may include evening and weekend time commitments. Exempt from overtime provisions. Position is security sensitive.
Any qualifications to be considered in lieu of stated minimums require the prior approval of the Human Resources Director.
Texas Law requires a 60 day waiting period before new state employees are eligible to enroll in health insurance.

The report also contains information about crime statistics for the three most recent calendar years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in On-Campus Student Housing Facilities; in Non-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by the University or a recognized student organization; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from, the campus. Sul Ross State University Alpine Campus is in the Scenic Davis Mountains of West Texas, is a member of the Texas State University System, is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award Associate, Bachelor’s, and Master’s degrees, and has an enrollment of approximately 2,000 students of campus in Alpine, Texas. At an elevation of 4,480 feet, and on the periphery of the Chihuahuan Desert, Alpine enjoys mild winters and cool summers. Davis Mountains State Park, Fort Davis National Historic Site, Big Bend National Park, and Guadalupe Mountains National Park are all within one to three hours driving distance from Alpine.
