Purpose:

To serve as the Safeties Coach for the football program at Oklahoma Baptist University
(OBU) within the philosophy and direction of the Head Coach as well as demonstrating
a commitment to live out and advance the OBU mission statement through the sport
of Football. Must comply with all NCAA, Great American Conference and institutional
rules and regulations.

Essential Functions:

• Developing and implementing strategies for the safeties position within the

football program.

• Coaching student-athletes in skills, techniques, and game strategies to

enhance their performance on the field.

• Key Responsibilities:
• Player development: Conduct individual and group training sessions to
improve skills and techniques specific to the safeties position, evaluate
player performance and provide constructive feedback to enhance
growth.

• Game Strategy: Collaborate with the defensive coordinator to develop

game plans and strategies, analyze opponent films to identify strengths and
weaknesses, adjusting strategies accordingly.

• Monitor the academic progress of the safeties
• Player eligibility
• Recruiting

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree
• Advanced football knowledge
• Previous coaching experience at the collegiate or high school level, preferably

with quarterbacks

• Strong knowledge of football strategies and techniques
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• Applicant must have the ability to communicate effectively through emails, text

messages and social media

• Applicant must be proficient with Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Applicant must have experience with Hudl
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to carry at least 50 pounds
• Ability to stand for long periods of time

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree
• Collegiate coaching experience

Special Requirements:

• Must be an active member of a local evangelical church
