Basic Function:

To assist Head Coach in coaching, recruiting, counseling, conditioning, and training of the intercollegiate football team. Reports to Head Football Coach.

Examples of Duties:

Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following:  Assist in coaching the football team, specializing in one or more positions; utilize coaching and teaching methods to develop student athletes’ skills and teamwork.Assist with the development of game strategy and determination of position assignments; analyze performance of student athletes.Scout and recruit student athletes.Assist in fund raising activities to subsidize the football program; assist in marketing and public relations activities to promote the program; perform community relations activities.Counsel and advise student athletes with personal or academic problems.May supervise students and/or provide functional guidance of support staff or other employees who work on a project or assignment on a temporary or intermittent basis.Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in relevant field; two years’ experience coaching football or a combination of coaching and playing experience at the professional or collegiate level to equal two years. License/Certification:   Knowledge Of: National Collegiate Athletics Association and Mid-American Conference rules and regulations Skill In: Training or instructing student athletes; interpersonal communication Ability To: Analyze situations and develop solutionsTravelWork non-traditional hours

Preferred Qualifications – if applicable:

  Prefer someone with experience working with inside receivers and tight ends.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:

Medium work – Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Incumbent must be able to communicate with others. Incumbent may be required to travel from building to building and off-campus frequently.
