The Assistant Football Coach will report to the Head Coach of Football and will work within a rigorous environment developing high-functioning athletes as the Cornerbacks. The individual will also have responsibilities in the areas of recruitment, academic support, and skill training as it relates to developing a successful NCAA Division I football program.
The Assistant Football Coach will have a strong presence in working with the university, athletics department and the community. Will engage in activities and subcommittees outside of the football program.
The incumbent will identify, recruit, retain, and develop student-athletes that will deliver a winning program to USU. The assistant coach will work under the direction of the Head Coach and will be responsible for the discipline, conduct and image of student-athletes. Ensure program operates within parameters; ensure compliance with policies and rules; build positive relationships with internal and external constituents.
The assistant Football coach at Utah State University will report to the Head football coach and will be assigned essential tasks that include: on and off campus recruiting; aid in planning practices; budget management of assigned funds; effectively work and communicate with students, monitoring academic progress of student-athletes; possess knowledge of overall football skills in order to develop athletes at every position; adherence to and promotion of NCAA rules and compliance to staff, student-athletes and representatives of athletic interest; successfully complete NCAA recruiting exam, team building and community and public relations. The assistant coach will demonstrate an understanding and commitment to athletics programs at NCAA Division 1 level, have a commitment to the academic mission of Utah State University, a commitment to the academic success of the student-athletes, serve as a positive role model for student-athletes on and off the field, work well with students, facility, staff and community.

The environment and physical requirements may change depending on the specific function of the work each department performs. Incumbents may be in both indoor and outdoor environments. This position requires considerable physical activity. Employees must have sufficient strength to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position including heavy lifting (up to 75 lbs.) and/or pushing and pulling of heavy objects. Employees must be prepared to assume uncomfortable positions, such as crawling, kneeling, and squatting.
