Purpose:

To serve as Defensive Coordinator for the football program at Oklahoma Baptist
University (OBU) within the philosophy and direction of the Head Coach as well as
demonstrating a commitment to live out and advance the OBU mission statement
through the sport of Football. Must comply with all NCAA, Great American Conference
and institutional rules and regulations.

Essential Functions:

• Demonstrate your faith in all areas of life.
• Encourage the spiritual growth of team members and support staff.
• Exhibit a positive regard for all students, faculty, and staff.
• Develop individuals who are dedicated to the pursuit of excellence and exercise

discipline in all areas of life.

• Successfully recruit students who are athletically gifted and possess high

academic quality.

• Adhere to NCAA, Conference, and University regulations regarding recruiting,

admissions standards, and eligibility.

• Coordinate recruitment contacts with the offensive staff and maintain open lines

of communication with the Recruiting Coordinator.

• Monitor student-athlete academic progress and motivate them to strive towards

Identify areas of deficiencies in athletic abilities and motivate athletes to achieve
improvement.

• Plan, organize, and execute a Defensive game plan that corresponds to the

overall philosophy of the Head Coach.

• Analyze performance and instruct athletes in defensive strategies and techniques

to prepare them for athletic competition.

• Evaluate the effectiveness of the defense and be committed to research and

implement strategies that will increase productivity utilizing the student athletes
we recruit at OBU.

• Efficiently and effectively complete administrative duties assigned by the Head

Coach.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Prior experience as a Coordinator, QB coach, or WR coach in a successful “No

Huddle” offense at the high school or collegiate level.

• Knowledge of and adherence to all University, NCAA, and Conference rules,

regulations, policies, and procedures with special attention to recruiting, eligibility,
admissions, and financial aid.
• Demonstrate servant leadership.
• Ability to manage and delegate essential duties to others.
• Ability to communicate effectively.

• Applicant must have the ability to communicate effectively through emails, text

messages, and social media.

• Applicant must be proficient with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Applicant must have experience with Hudl (video, editing, and presentations).
• Valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience as an Offensive Coordinator, QB coach, or WR coach at the

collegiate level.

Special Requirements:

• Must be an active member of a local evangelical church.
• Evangelical is a broad term referring to a segment within Christianity which

maintains the authority of the Bible and the belief in salvation by faith in Jesus alone.
