Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for assisting the head football coach with managing daily administrative and coaching duties of the football program while adhering to Bowie State University (

BSU

), National Collegiate Athletic Association (

NCAA

), and Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association regulations and policies. Assist the athletic department in fundraising and public relations programs. Assist with the recruitment of prospective student athletes. Demonstrate excellent professional and interpersonal communication skills with students, alumni, staff, administration, media, and the general public. Emphasis must be on the educational welfare of the student-athlete while striving for excellence within the institution’s mission and in the field of competition. Must always demonstrate and maintain a high level of sportsmanship.

Duties include but not limited to:

Direct oversight for offensive assistant coaches.

Coordinating offensive strategies for football program and in-game offensive play calling.

Assisting with organizing and administering team programs and activities (such as in-season practices and off-season programs).

Coaching, scouting, and recruiting; coordinating travel plans and vehicles transportation.

Advising and counseling student-athletes with registration requirements; promoting the football program and participating in fund raising activities.

Assist strength and condition coach with strength and conditioning programs.

Other duties as assigned by the head football coach.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge of CIAA and NCAA rules and regulations.
