Alabama State University, Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, invites applications to fill the position of Assistant Golf Coach. In accordance with the mission of the Department of Athletics, the Assistant Golf Coach will assist in administering the progress and success of the intercollegiate Golf program within the guidelines of the NCAA, the SWAC Conference, and Alabama State University. This includes all pre-season, in-season, and post-season activities necessary to develop a nationally competitive team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist Head Coach by providing instruction and direction to players, individually or in groups, on the rules, techniques, equipment, and regulations of the sport

• Analyze the strengths and weaknesses of individual athletes.

• Teach all aspects of the game of golf through fundamentals in daily practice sessions.

• Instructs and demonstrates skill sets and techniques necessary for individual and team achievement in the sport.

• Develop practice schedules, organize activities, and set up competitions.

• Direct, encourage, and motivate athletes to prepare them for competitions.

• Conduct and supervise all practices.

• Plans and sets up activities, practices and games.

• Maintains a safe environment and facilities for student athletes at all times.

• Develops appropriate practice plans and schedules.

• Maintain and organize all equipment storage areas

• Plan strategies and assist Head Coach in choosing team members for each competition.

• Assist Head Coach in recruiting highly competitive student-athletes that meet the academic requirements of the Alabama State University and the ASU Golf program

Minimum Qualifications

Industry Professional (Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) or Professional Golf Association (PGA). Previous playing and/or coaching experience. Strong ability to work effectively with students, staff, faculty, alumni and community members. This position requires a valid driver license with an insurable driving record, a flexible schedule that allows for evening and weekend hour, and travel for recruitment and in season travel.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

• Strong verbal, written and public relation communication skills

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple duties

• Strong work ethic, positive attitude and professionalism at all times

• Current certification in CPR/First Aid/AED

• Ability to work with diverse populations

• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365
