Job Summary

Missouri Western State University announces a search for a

Part-time Assistant Women’s and Men’s Golf Coach

to join our Athletics Department. The Assistant Coach is responsible for assisting the Head Golf Coach with all facets of creating a successful golf program.

This part-time position will be a 10-month position working August 15 – May 15, 2025 annually.

Located in St. Joseph, Missouri, just 45 minutes north of Kansas City, Missouri Western is a

NCAA

Division II institution, which successfully competes in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (

MIAA

) in 16 sports and Great Lakes Valley Conference (

GLVC

) in 1 sport.

Essential Job Duties

Assists with the coaching, organization, administration and development of a successful collegiate athletic program.

Assists in the planning and implementation of specific aspects of the men’s and women’s programs, as directed by the head coach.

Monitor the mental and physical health of student-athletes.

Assist in monitoring the academic performance of student-athletes.

Develop player skills and and provide coaching for student-athletes for specific positions.

Recruit and build relationships with prospects that are identified by the staff as good fits for

MWSU

via phone, text and in person communications.

Organize and produce scouting reports on opponents in a manner determined by head coach.

Represents the University at campus, alumni and community functions.

Comply with all rules and regulations of the

NCAA

, the

MIAA

, Missouri Western State University, as well as those of the team.

Ability to travel to on and off campus games and work an alternative schedule, including evenings and weekends.

Perform administrative duties as assigned.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree.

CPR

/First Aid/

AED

Training is required.

A valid driver’s license is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous golf coaching or playing experience at the collegiate level is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of the fundamentals of the sport.

Knowledge of the specific skills required for each position.

Knowledge of

NCAA

rules and regulations.

Ability to develop relationships with student-athletes and prospective recruits.

Ability to coach student-athletes.

Good problem-solving skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Office programs and other general office equipment.

Organized thinker with exceptional attention to detail.

Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.

Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work as well as concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously.

Physical Demands

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

Additional Demands

Generally works in an office or an indoor or outdoor sports environment.

May be exposed to the loud noise of an audience at games.

May be exposed to inclement weather conditions and extreme temperatures.

Position requires moderate physical activity, and the ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.

Required to use close vision and be able to focus.

Regularly required to talk and hear; frequently required to sit, stand, and bend at the knee and waist, and walk.

Requires the ability to climb, balance, kneel, stoop, and reach.

Must be able to have repetitive wrist, hand and/or finger movement to type and work on computer.

Must have finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination to work on computer, telephone, and related office equipment.

Hours of Work

Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.

Regular travel is required.

Regular nighttime and weekend work is required.
