We are currently accepting applications for the position of Assistant Golf Professional / Master Club Fitter & Learning Center Lead. This position will report to the Head Golf Professional and Assistant General Manager of the Stanford Golf Course and will be the onsite contact for all things related to the Stanford Golf Course Learning Center. This role will work closely with staff across the entire Stanford Golf Course and Learning Center operation to ensure all business and service components are facilitated. Specific focus on hard and soft good sales, inventory, demo days, club-fitting and repair services, and day-to-day Learning Center programming. This position is based on the Stanford main campus.
Responsibilities include:
Professional Club Fitting (50%)
● Deploy expert knowledge and experience to establish policies and procedures to manage, schedule, and perform professional club fitting and hard good sales
● Manage professional club repair services
● Communicate with all vendors and complete necessary steps to have fitting library and shaft matrix in-house
● Manage all phases of ordering/fitting including pre-book qualifications, receipt, and send-back of product
● Manage and promote launch monitors and other fitting systems
● Research, complete, and implement back-end functionality with Stanford Golf Course website to allow online booking, scheduling, and tracking of fittings and repairs
● Ensure relevant golf course staff have appropriate product training and current market knowledge of hard goods and sales
● Promote and integrate social media platforms and any other marketing materials to create awareness of offered services
Administrative oversight of the Stanford Learning Center (25%)
● Provide administrative oversight of the Stanford learning center ensuring all service standards are met.
● Act as primary interface with all vendors and sales reps to coordinate club-fitting and demo days
● Write open-to-buy plans and delivery planners for all hard goods
● Provide monthly sales data and related analysis
● Perform any equipment net downs
● Process hard goods and special order invoices
● Communicate with customers and members regarding specifics orders and upcoming retail specials and promotions; troubleshoot and resolve issues
● Assist Head Professional on hard and soft goods purchases and inventory management for both golf shops
● Fill open Learning Center shifts as necessary
● Other duties as assigned
Coordination of day-to-day programming of the Stanford Learning Center (25%)
● Work closely with the golf instruction team to develop space usage plans and schedules for all teaching and fitting
● Develop, implement, and administer new and unique programming for all constituent golf development
● Lead or assist in the administration of special events at the Learning Center
● Research new products/services/vendors that would drive bottom-line revenue
The expected pay range for this position is $66,055 - $75,000 per annum. Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
Qualifications:
● Associate’s degree and four years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.
● At least 3 years of club-fitting experience
● Certifications with trackman, flight scope, foresight sports or modern fitting technologies preferred
● Certifications with major equipment brands, i.e. Titleist, TaylorMade, Callaway, Ping preferred
● PGA Member (Class A), or Level 1 PGA Associate in good standing preferred
● Valid driver's license required
● Advanced knowledge of golf equipment and supplies
● Knowledge of ordering and inventory control
● Ability to follow through and complete assigned tasks
● Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
● Highly effective verbal and written communication skills
● Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
● Exceptional organizational and communication (both written and verbal) skills
● Self-motivated individual who takes initiative, continually self-evaluates and proactively identifies new opportunities.
● Ability to work under pressure and time constraints with the ability to multi-task and prioritize workload in a fast-paced atmosphere.
