Position Summary:

Long Island University is seeking an energetic, passionate, and highly motivated individual for the role of Assistant Coach / Director of Hockey Operations for the Division 1 Men's Ice Hockey Program. This position will provide valuable support to the coaching staff in all aspects of team management and development, while also overseeing daily operations and logistics for the hockey program. The ideal candidate will be a team player with a strong background in ice hockey, organizational skills, and a commitment to the overall success and development of the student-athletes.

Key Responsibilities:

Coaching and On-Ice Responsibilities:

•Assist the Head Coach and Assistant Coaches in planning, organizing, and conducting team practices, on-ice drills, and training sessions.

•Provide direct coaching support during team practices, games, and skill development sessions.

•Assist with game-day preparations, including player evaluations, lineups, and opponent scouting.

•Mentor and support student-athletes in skill development, physical conditioning, and game strategy.

•Participate in team travel to away games and events as necessary.

Director of Hockey Operations:

•Coordinate the logistics for team travel, including booking transportation, accommodations, and meal plans for away games.

•Oversee the management of team equipment, including inventory, ordering, and distribution.

•Manage video analysis and game footage for the coaching staff, including film breakdowns and player evaluations.

•Assist with the recruitment process by attending scouting events, reviewing prospective student-athletes, and maintaining relationships with high school and junior hockey programs.

•Ensure compliance with NCAA regulations and Long Island University policies in all areas of hockey operations.

•Serve as a liaison between players, coaches, and administration, helping to ensure clear communication and a positive team culture.

Administrative and Organizational Support:

•Help organize and execute team events, including practices, team meetings, and community outreach initiatives.

•Maintain detailed records for player statistics, game performance, and individual progress.

•Assist in the development of marketing materials for the team, including social media content and promotional campaigns.

•Support the Head Coach in the management of day-to-day operations of the program, including budget tracking and resource allocation.

Other Duties as Assigned:

•Assist with academic support initiatives for student-athletes to ensure a balanced focus on academics and athletics.

•Perform any additional duties or responsibilities as required by the Head Coach

Qualifications:

•Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in a related field preferred.

•Proficiency in video analysis software and other hockey-related technologies.

•Prior coaching experience, preferably at the collegiate or junior hockey level.

•Strong knowledge of the game of hockey, including advanced strategies, skill development, and player evaluation.

•Experience in managing team operations, including travel coordination and equipment logistics.

•Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

•Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

•Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks.

•Understanding and adherence to NCAA regulations and compliance standards.
