Description of Job

This full-time, year-round administrative professional position provides an Assistant Track and Field - Throws Coach in the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. The primary purpose of this position is to coach student-athletes in the throwing events, including coaching team practices and competition, developing student-athlete skills, building understanding of the sport, event and meet preparation and management, teamwork and conditioning. A major role is mentoring student-athletes, including academic support and advisement and providing skills training.

This position provides assistance in all phases of the track and field program. The duties include, but are not limited to: assisting in practices, workouts and meets; recruiting, scouting, scheduling, coordinating travel, monitoring player academics, home track meets, equipment and facility management, assisting with home football games (set up/tear down) and other duties to be assigned by the Head Coach and/or Vice President for Athletics and Strategic Partnerships.

Primary Duties

  • Assist in coaching at all team practices, work outs and scheduled competitions, including skills demonstration. Primary area of coaching is the throwing events.
  • Recruit highly-qualified prospective student-athletes.
  • Carry-out administrative duties in the men’s and women’s cross country and track and field program as assigned by the head coach. Help with home event management, including football games (set up/tear down).
