Reporting to the
Head Men’s Basketball Coach, the Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach is responsible for assisting the Head Coach to ensure the program’s success as directly related to the skill development and performance of the student-athletes, as well as the recruitment, retention, and conduct of the student-athletes. All staff members are responsible for complying with the policies and procedures set forth by Hofstra University, the Coastal Athletic Association, the
NCAA
and the job requirements specific to the particular assignments inherent to basketball. This position requires working weekends and holidays and attending athletic events as appropriate.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Analyzes videotape/film involving the team or opponent.
Charts/tracks statistics during practice or competition.
Attends coaches-only meetings and engage in permissible activities during those meetings – analyzes film of team or opponents and sets up offensive/defensive strategies.
Assists with the evaluation and recruitment of student-athletes, including daily recruitment, communication with and cultivation of recruits.
Collaborates with the development staff to coordinate fundraising initiatives, including organizing lunch or dinner outings and pregame gatherings, both at home and on the road.
Collaborates closely with student-athletes to support their efforts in balancing academic responsibilities with athletic commitments.
Manages team engagements, including on-campus appearances, alumni and booster events, as well as participation in media day, photo day, and promotional activities related to posters and brochures.
Continues organizing pregame clinics for the majority of our home games, engaging local community groups such as
CYO
teams.
Organizes weekly and monthly service projects for student-athletes to actively participate in.
Works with staff to construct a
NCAA
Division 1 schedule.
Responsible for ticket management at all
NCAA
basketball events.
Develops program budgets which include recruiting, team travel, and equipment.
Maintains consistent engagement by distributing the Hofstra Basketball Newsletter weekly during the season and monthly during the offseason.
Encourages student-athletes to attend and support other athletic events on campus.
Oversees players’ and team social media presence to ensure they positively represent Hofstra University.
Serves as the liaison to other departments within the athletic program and campus offices.
Generates and organizes practice schedules with head coach.
Works with assistant coaches to develop a recruiting database.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree required.
Minimum of one year of prior relevant work experience.
Valid driver’s license.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
3-5 years’ experience working with a collegiate men’s basketball program preferred.

$84,000 - $94,400 ($6,000 annual car stipend)
