South Dakota Mines seeks an Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach. This is a 12-month, benefited position from June 22 – June 21, with 100% effort from July 22 to May 21 and 50% effort from May 22 to July 21. Duties will include assisting the head men’s basketball coach in all phases of the men’s basketball program’s operation. Major emphasis will include the identification and recruitment of academically and athletically qualified student athletes, as well as the organization and carrying out of all aspects of recruiting, on and off campus. Additional responsibilities will include game video breakdown and scouting; assisting with player development; assisting with team-related administrative duties such as scheduling, travel arrangements, monitoring players’ academic progress and success; assisting with organization of promotions and alumni relations; assisting with practice and game planning; and other duties as assigned. The assistant coach will also have other responsibilities assigned once hired in one of the following areas: Marketing and Promotions or the Equipment room.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in communications, Health, Physical Education, Education or related field (or equivalent experience).
1-3 years of experience in basketball coaching.
Preferred:
2-4 years of experience in college basketball coaching.
