Teaching our student athletes the intricacies of the game of basketball all the while preparing them for life after college. It is our goal for each member of our teams to become leaders in their community and productive members of society. With teaching our athletes about time management, teamwork and leadership,to follow the mission of this University.
Coaching - 25

Recruitment - 25
- Recruitment of quality prospective student athletes who meet (first) the mission of the University and (second) will contribute to our athletic program being as successful as possible within the Peach Belt Conference and the NCAA.
- Ability to successfully pass the NCAA recruiting test administered annually.
Supervision - 25
- Provide academic support for student- athletes
- Monitor grades and attendance
- Provide and supervise study sessions
- Provide tutors for student-athletes as needed or requested
Other - 25
- Other duties as described by the Athletic Director.
- Assist in fundraising activities as well as community engagement and the engagement of the remainder of campus.
- May serve as game manager for sports other than men's basketball.
- Serve as game manager (sports outside of men's basketball).
- Help build community support for all of our programs as well as helping to bring the remainder of campus closer to athletics.
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree
Required Experience
One year collegiate coaching experience or having played at least one year of professional basketball
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree
ABILITIES
Ability to communicate effectively with both the student athletes and the academic side of the University as we strive to provide the best possible academic experience for all of our student athletes.
KNOWLEDGE
- Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations as it relates to the recruitment of prospective student athletes.
- Understanding of the GCSU mission as well as our entrance requirements.
- Recruit quality athletes who are also quality students
- Insure that athletes will achieve GPAs comparable to or greater than the University average
- Insure that athletes graduate at a rate comparable to or greater than the University average.
- Thorough knowledge of the game is imperative.
SKILLS
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in the community.
- Must have strong leadership skills that student athletes will want to follow.
- Communication skills a must
- Leadership abilities are of the utmost importance.
