Description of Job

This full-time, year-round position provides an assistant coach for the men’s basketball program in Athletics. This position will provide support in the overall organization and management of the men’s basketball program while reporting to the head men’s basketball coach. In accordance with the vision of the head coach, the position is responsible for serving as an assistant coach; specifically coaching all positions; assisting in the development of practice and game plans, and training sessions; scouting opponents and creating a sound offensive and defensive strategy; recruiting qualified prospective student-athletes; monitoring player academics and providing mentoring to student-athletes; monitoring NCAA compliance; promoting the CSU Pueblo men’s basketball program; developing camps, clinics and fund-raising opportunities for men’s basketball; and serving as an influential and effective leader, collaborator, and team player for the department. The position fulfills other duties as assigned by the head coach.

Primary Duties

Serve as the assistant coach in collaboration with the vision of the head coach

Coach student-athletes, including all team practices and scheduled games/competitions; assist in the development of game preparation and strategy; condition and train student-athletes in order to develop skill, character, and teamwork in men’s basketball. Ensure that all University, conference and NCAA rules and regulations are followed including studentathlete eligibility, recruiting, financial aid, scheduling and academic progress. Follow University procurement and travel policies. Work in collaboration with fellow coaches and staff under the direction of the head men’s basketball coach.

Recruit highly qualified prospective student-athletes.
