Job Summary

 

Columbus State University, a Division II member of the Peach Belt Conference invites applications for the position of Assistant Men's Basketball Coach. This position will assist the Head Coach and other assistant coaches in performing all duties in compliance with all NCAA, Peach Belt Conference, and Columbus State University rules and regulations.

Responsibilities

 

Significant Duties and Responsibilities include: Assistance in planning and hosting prospective student-athlete on campus visits.; Assist head coach in responding to contacts, to include, coaches¿ mailings, player questionnaires, observing team practices and games, phone calls, recruitment, emails, and admissions contacts; establish and maintain a recruiting database.; Perform phone calls and emails to recruits; attend practices and/or games of recruits.; Build relationships with prospective student-athletes and current athletes.; Assist the head coach with travel by arranging bus and van schedules, pre- and post-game meals, and overnight accommodations.; Plan and conduct Basketball camps, clinics, leagues, lessons, and tournaments.; Analyze recruits, current players, and opponents via video.; Assist head coach in monitoring academic progress with study tables, academic meetings, class scheduling, and classroom checks.; Assist players as needed; meet established fund-raising goals for the program.; Participate in community fund-raising as coordinated by the Athletic Director.; Selected candidate will be skilled in individual and group training with all guards.; Selected candidate will also assist the head coach with a daily practice plan; assist in creating and implementing strength and conditioning plans for the program; and all other related duties as assigned.
 

Required Qualifications

 

Required Qualifications include: Bachelor's degree in a related field.; 3 -5 years minimum of basketball coaching experience at a NCAA Division I, Division II School or professionally. 
 

Proposed Salary

 

The proposed annualized salary range for this position is $44,000- 46,000 and includes full benefits.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities include: In-depth knowledge and understanding of conference and NCAA rules and regulations.; Proven track record of training high level collegiate guards (All Conference, All American, etc).; Strong desire and ability to successfully recruit.; Exceptional leadership skills; a proven track record of consistently modeling positive behaviors at all times.; Strong follow-through skills, as well as, the ability to plan, organize, and control projects through to completion.; Ability to handle and maintain confidential information.; Willingness to travel nights and weekends.; Ability to work effectively in a diverse community.

Conditions of Employment
