The Naval Academy Athletic Association (NAAA), founded in 1891, is a nonprofit organization whose objective is to "promote, influence, and assist in financing the varsity athletic programs of the midshipmen of the United States Naval Academy" in accordance with the policy of the Superintendent of the Academy. Through an intercollegiate athletics program that is one of the largest in the country, every midshipman is afforded the opportunity to compete in athletics at the Division I level. The emphasis on physical fitness is borne out in the first line of the mission of the U.S. Naval Academy: To develop midshipmen morally, mentally and physically.

Summary

The Naval Academy Athletic Association has an immediate opening for a full-time Assistant Heavyweight Rowing Coach. Responsibilities include assisting the Head Coach, student-athlete recruitment, student-athlete development, instruction of team practices, event management, alumni & parent relations, summer camps, operational duties, academic monitoring of student-athletes, and performing other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Adheres to all policies and regulations of the NAAA.

  • Adheres to all rules, regulations and procedures established by the Academy, Conference and NCAA.

  • Assists the Head Coach in monitoring the academic progress of student-athletes.

  • Exercises reasonable judgment in sports program and travel expenditures, as applicable.

  • Attends all daily workouts.

  • Attends coaches’ meetings as scheduled.

  • Assists in designing game plans and strategies. 

  • Assumes responsibility for the coaching area(s) assigned by the Head Coach.

  • Responsible for maintaining a commitment to sportsmanship in all areas of coaching activities.
