POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Edward Waters University Women's Soccer Team is seeking a passionate, driven, and visionary Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach who is ready to help take our program to the next level. The successful candidate will play a key role in implementing a comprehensive and strategic approach to athlete development, recruiting, team culture, and daily operations. This is more than a coaching job — it is an opportunity to help shape a program, inspire young women, and leave a legacy within the EWU community and beyond. You’ll work closely with the Head Coach to foster a strong team culture built on excellence, integrity, discipline, hard work, and unity while ensuring that student-athletes are prepared to compete at a high level both on the field and in life.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum of 3 years of coaching experience (preferably at the collegiate or high-level club level).
• Deep knowledge of the game of soccer, including current tactics, systems of play, and training methodologies.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
• Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with student-athletes, colleagues, and stakeholders.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Ability to travel and work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Training & Game Preparation

• Assist with designing and executing engaging, progressive training sessions focused on tactical awareness, technical growth, and physical development.
• Provide strategic in-game support, making recommendations and adjustments in real-time.
• Collaborate with the Head Coach on match preparation, opponent analysis, and scouting reports.
• Process all necessary EWU documents and ensure administrative duties are carried out within deadlines.

Recruitment & Talent Development

• Identify, evaluate, and recruit prospective student-athletes who embody the core values of Edward Waters University.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with high school, club, and junior college coaches, as well as recruiting platforms and scouting services.
• Guide recruits and their families through the admissions and eligibility process.
• Ensure that all recruiting efforts are aligned with NCAA compliance standards.

Student-Athlete Mentorship

• Serve as a mentor and leader, providing guidance in the areas of academics, personal development, mental health, time management, and life after sport.
• Promote a healthy, team-first culture where respect, accountability, and positive communication.
• Lead character-building workshops and support leadership development programs within the team.

Administrative & Operational Duties

• Assist in managing all aspects of team travel, including transportation, lodging, and meals.
• Coordinate game-day logistics, including setup, staffing, equipment, and scheduling.
• Help oversee equipment inventory and uniform distribution.
• Support fundraising efforts and community engagement initiatives in partnership with the athletic department.
• Maintain accurate records, reports, and NCAA compliance documentation.
