Responsible for all aspects of media and sports information relating to the university’s 18-sport intercollegiate athletics program, employing a brand identity for each program that aligns with the department and the university and is used to promote the program to current students, alumni, faculty/staff, prospective student-athletes, and the community at-large. Must oversee game operations staff for scoring, statistics, and communications.
Required Education
Bachelor’s degree.
Required Experience
Two years’ experience working in the sports information field.
Knowledge of rules and regulations governing NCAA Division II.
Primary Duties/Essential Functions
Oversee game and media operations for the home contests, hiring and supervising a staff of temporary employees for statistical, timing, video, and public address management.
Oversee promotions and news updates through Cougar Athletics social media outlets.
Coordinate the development and implementation of a proactive media outreach program to print, radio, TV and other electronic media outlets.
Responds to requests for information and interviews, coordinating schedules with coaches and athletes.
Maintain contact with the NCAA national office concerning media relation issues.
Maintain all statistical information, historical data, and photo files for assigned sports programs.
Responsible for APU Athletics website management, in particular information disseminated.
Writes and edits feature articles for various University publications.
Assist with the Cougar Hall of Fame program, and work with the committee on the look and presentation of the Hall of Champions.
Supervise student workers and interns.
Regular, punctual attendance as required by the supervisor based on department needs.
Performs other duties as required by the supervisor

Knowledge of structure and philosophy of athletics organizations and programs.
Strong overall writing and oral communication skills with editorial abilities, and commitment to quality.
Computer and desktop publishing proficiency.
Conversant with web design and publishing concepts.
High level of interpersonal skills.
Photography skills.
Ability to work varied schedules.
Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the public.

Physical Demands
Moderate activity, including, but not limited to full range of arm motion, bending, squatting, twisting, lifting, pulling.
Able to lift up to 20 lbs. occasionally.

Computer monitor and reading.
Broad observation on fields/courts of play, see objects moving quickly.
Environment
Environmental demands include, but are not limited to climate controlled indoor environment and potential exposure to outdoor elements including sun, wind, and temperature.
Technologies
Proficient in Google Apps., Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, photo editing software, and Adobe desktop publishing software.
Proficient in effective marketing and news distribution using social media for institutional use.
Compensation
Grade 9: $23.58 to $27.12 is the hourly compensation for this role and reflects what Azusa Pacific University reasonably expects to pay for this position. Actual compensation may vary based on the qualifications, experience, and internal equity. In addition to compensation, APU offers a competitive benefits package.
