Position Summary

Belmont Abbey College, an NCAA Division II institution and member of the Conference Carolinas, invites applications for the position of Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach.

Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate for this position will report to the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach and collaborate with coaches and staff to achieve the overall mission and strategic goals of the College and athletic department. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assist in the maintenance, and integrity and daily upkeep of all equipment within the varsity athletic weight room. Maintain professional working relationships with athletic training, academics and respective coaching staffs. Demonstrate the ability to clearly and professionally communicate with student-athletes, administration and academics.

The incumbent must fulfill these responsibilities while adhering to all rules, guidelines and principles as set forth by the NCAA, Conference Carolinas and Belmont Abbey College.

Qualifications

Preference will be given to those candidates who can demonstrate a strategic vision for the day-to-day operations of a growing athletics department. This vision must complement the institution’s mission and character as a distinctively Catholic and Benedictine college which views sport as a means of developing virtue. The successful candidate must demonstrate initiative and self-motivation. The minimum qualifications for this position include a Bachelor’s Degree; certification by the National Strength & Conditioning Association, Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association, or USA Weightlifting; at least 1 academic year full or part time experience in a NCAA Division II strength & conditioning program working with both male and female athletes.

The incumbent will consistently demonstrate skills, attitudes, and stable disposition of character to support our Catholic and Benedictine identity while fostering the development of mind, body, and spirit in our students, our staff and the greater community. Finally, candidates must have a sincere appreciation and acceptance of our Catholic approach to education and an understanding of Pope Saint John Paul II’s Ex Corde Ecclesiae.
