Job Summary
The Strength and Conditioning Assistant Coach will support the Director of Athletic Performance in developing student-athletes across all sports at the University of Texas at Tyler. All student-athletes participate in training and conditioning outside of their sport-specific practices. Strength and conditioning programs provide supplemental training during the summer and other periods when NCAA regulations limit official team practices. Standard office environment with required travel, evening hours, and some weekend hours. Will work in all types of weather conditions, from the cold to extreme heat, as well as in a fluid environment.
Major Responsibilities/Duties/Critical Tasks
Provide coverage of strength and conditioning sessions for assigned team/s and assist with conflict coverage.
Develop daily workouts for assigned teams.
Collaborate with Strength & Conditioning, Athletic Training and the Sports Medicine staff to adjust training sessions for optimal health outcomes.
Assist with annual physical examinations and strength coach-led fitness tests.
Contribute to the supervising duties given to interns and assist with equipment inventory.
Spearhead nutrition education partnership with a nutrition consultant for the weight room.
Assist in the daily operations of the strength and conditioning facility while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
Perform related duties as required.
Required Education/Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology or related field.
Two (2) years of working at the Collegiate level.
May accept a combination of education and experience.
Preferred Education/Experience
Master’s degree in Kinesiology or related field.
Experience working in a comprehensive sports performance environment.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSES:
CPR certified
CSCCa certified
NSCA certified

Basic knowledge of computers including databases.

Additional Information
The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
