Duties:
The duties below are performed under the direction of the Head Track and Field Coach and in collaboration with the other assistant coaches: Support the Head Coach in managing all aspects of a competitive NCAA Division I men’s and women’s throwing track and field program. Plan and conduct practices and training sessions in the throwing events, indoors and outdoors, in varying weather conditions. Recruit and retain academically qualified and athletically talented student-athletes. Monitor student-athletes' academic progress and ensure compliance with NCAA eligibility standards. Assess athlete performance and develop individualized training programs using kinesiology, event-specific techniques, injury prevention, and recovery strategies. Work closely with the assigned strength and conditioning coach to design a program for all throwing events. Utilize video analysis and performance tracking tools (e.g., Coach’s Eye, Kinovea, Dartfish, or Hudl) to evaluate technique and optimize training outcomes. Assist with team operations, including facility setup and equipment oversight. Drive 15 passenger van to meets and other track and field events. Participate in fundraising, recruiting events, and outreach activities in support of the program. Travel with the team to all competitions and recruiting events within the U.S.; maintain a flexible schedule that includes frequent nights, weekends, and holidays during the season
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and Human Performance, Physical Education, or a related field. Foreign equivalent degree accepted. One year of collegiate coaching experience in the throwing events for both men’s and women’s teams. Demonstrable ability to apply kinesiology, event-specific technique, injury prevention, and training methodologies in coaching studentathletes. Demonstrable ability to design and implement strength and conditioning programs using periodization principles. Demonstrable ability to use performance analysis and coaching technology, including Dartfish, Hudl, Coach’s Eye, or Kinovea. Demonstrable ability to support team logistics and daily athletic operations. Willingness to work in inclement weather. Be willing and able to travel and work irregular hours, including nights and weekends, during the competitive season. Must be able to lift 50 pounds and sit or stand for long periods of time. Must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to drive a 15-passenger van. Must have passed a background check.
