| Job Summary |
Eastern Washington University is currently seeking an Assistant Track & Field / Cross Country Coach. This position is housed in the athletic department and will report to the Director of Track and Field / Cross Country, the designated administrative sport supervisor, and, ultimately, the Director of Athletics. It is the responsibility of the Coach to work closely with the Director to design, organize, implement, facilitate, oversee and evaluate all facets of a Big Sky, NCAA Division I assigned sport program. Several components of this job include, recruiting, , fundraising and public appearances of the coach. This position provides educational, monitoring and supervisory components, as well as working within a shared facility. This person will work closely with the equipment, sports medicine, strength & conditioning, and classified staff, as well as Compliance and Academics. Will also work collaboratively with relevant constituent groups on campus.
It is also the responsibility of the Coach to study and know all policies and procedures integral to the University, Big Sky Conference and NCAA rules compliance. Will assist in the direction, develop and management of all aspects of the assigned sport program including but not limited to; recruiting, talent evaluation, conducting training and development of student athletes within the team concept, scheduling, budget management, supervision of additional staff and monitoring academic progress of the team.

The salary for this position is $40,000. In addition to salary, the university offers a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance and disability insurance and retirement. Travel will be required for a minimum of 25 nights per year. Must be able to work nights and weekends to adjust for practice and competition times.
This position, during the course of university employment will be involved in the receipt of, or accountability for, university funds or other items of value, as well as the unsupervised access with the developmentally disabled, vulnerable adults or children under the age of 16. The offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion and passing of a background check prior to beginning employment.

COACHING DUTIES
Direct oversight of Cross-Country program and assist in supervision of Indoor/Outdoor Track & Field Program, with oversight of 1500m and longer distances events.
Facilitate learning of proper skill execution and safety techniques.
Administer, plan, & organize appropriate pre-season, in-season, and post-seasons practice and strength & conditioning programs; develop summer and off-season training programs as assigned.
Meet with Director of Track and Field / Cross Country and other staff members weekly to plan practices, competition, travel, and other team maters.
Develop annual cross-country schedule and work closely with Athletics Business Office for any team and individual travel needs. Assist in meet administration when applicable.

Identify and recruit qualified student-athletes for prospective cross-country student-athletes and assist in the process for prospective track & field student-athletes.
