Position Summary
The intercollegiate athletics program is an integral part of the university striving to achieve the same
standards of excellence in athletics that exist within academic programs. The program is concerned with
the physical and mental welfare of the student and strives to ensure that every student-athlete has the
opportunity to succeed academically and obtain a degree. Sport programs are a vital function of the
University at large.
The position will be responsible for assisting the Director of Track and Field in organizing, preparing, and
conducting individual and team practices, training and competition with the Long Jump, Triple Jump, and
High Jump. Will also assist with home meet organization, management, set up and other administrative
duties as assigned.
Job Duties
• Candidates must be able to teach proper technique and skill development in various aspects of track and field.
• This position will work with jumpers, especially in the disciplines of long jump, triple jump, and high jump.
• Candidates should have a complete and thorough understanding of track and field and be able to instruct student-athletes in small group and one-on-one settings.
• This position requires the ability to help recruit potential student-athletes.
• Candidates must have the ability to successfully impart track-specific knowledge and coach the jumpers and student-athletes who compete in the multi-events.
• Previous coaching and/or playing experience on the college level is highly desired.
• The ability to identify and recruit student-athletes is required.
• This position requires well-developed communication skills, as well as strong time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to work weekends and evenings is required.
This position will assist the head coach in devising methods by which the team can achieve success and with the establishment and development of the team atmosphere. Also in creating a positive atmosphere for the successful recruitment of student-athletes, promotion of community involvement by all team personnel.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree is required.
Experience:Four (4) years minimum coaching experience at Division I Level with Jumps.
Prior Collegiate, International, or Olympic trials competitive experience. Prefer collegiate Track and Field playing experience as well as graduate assistant experience at Div 1 school as well as at last 5 years of successful track and field coaching at ay level.
Certification/Registration/Licensing:USATF Level I Certification and CPR/First Aid, NCAA Rules and Regulations certification

This position is contingent on funding from the Colorado State Legislature, approval by the Board of Trustees, and subject to the policies and regulations of the University of Northern Colorado.
