Description of Job

This full-time, year-round administrative professional position provides an assistant coach for the women’s basketball program in Athletics. This position will provide support in the overall organization and management of the women’s basketball program while reporting to the head women’s basketball coach. In accordance with the vision of the head coach, the position is responsible for serving as an assistant coach; specifically coaching all positions; assisting in the development of practice and game plans, and training sessions; scouting opponents and creating a sound offensive and defensive strategy; recruiting qualified prospective student-athletes; monitoring player academics and providing mentoring to student-athletes; monitoring NCAA compliance; promoting the CSU Pueblo women’s basketball program; developing camps, clinics and fund-raising opportunities for women’s basketball; and serving as an influential and effective leader, collaborator, and team player for the department. The position fulfills other duties as assigned by the head coach and/or Vice President for Athletics and Strategic Partnerships.

Primary Duties

  • Serve as the assistant Women’s Basketball Coach in collaboration with the vision of the head coach.
  • Coach student-athletes, including all team practices and scheduled games/competitions; develop game preparation and strategy; condition and train student-athletes (including skill demonstration) in order to develop skill, character, and teamwork in men's soccer. Ensure that all University, conference and NCAA rules and regulations are followed including student-athlete eligibility, recruiting, financial aid, scheduling and academic progress. Follow University procurement and travel policies. Work in collaboration with fellow coaches and staff under the direction of the head Women's Basketball coach.
  • Recruit highly qualified prospective student-athletes.
  • Monitor player academics, encourage academic excellence including student-athlete health, wellness and overall welfare.
  • Assist in the organization of camps and clinics; fund-raising opportunities; serve on committees that promote the success of the program and Athletics; establish and maintain community relations and engagement that enhances the success of the program.
