Job Description

Tennessee State University Department of Athletics invites applications for the position of Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach.

The Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach at Tennessee State University supports the Head Coach in all aspects of the women’s basketball program. This includes assisting with practice planning, game strategy, player development, recruiting, academic support, and program administration. The assistant coach plays a key role in fostering a positive team culture, mentoring student-athletes, and ensuring compliance with NCAA, Ohio Valley Conference, and institutional rules.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in planning and conducting practices, workouts, and game preparation.
• Support scouting, player development, film/video work, and operational support.
• Commitment to professional development and growth as a coach.
• Culture and leadership development
• Recruit prospective student-athletes in alignment with program goals.
• Provide academic, mentorship, and career readiness support to student athletes.
• Monitor team adherence to rules and maintain program compliance.
• Contribute to the program’s public relations and alumni, donor, and community engagement efforts.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:
Bachelor’s Degree required.
Previous coaching or playing experience at the collegiate level preferred.
Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
