Under the direction of the Head Womenās Basketball Coach, the Assistant Womenās Basketball Coach will assist in the administration and leadership of the Johnson C. Smith Universityās DII Womenās Basketball program. Responsibilities includes but are not limited to: providing coaching and instruction, Womenās Basketball recruitment operations, player development, scouting, preparation of practice activities and other duties as assigned by the Head Womenās Basketball Coach.
Assist in all areas of team performance, including pre-season, post-season training, practice and competition.
Designs and implements instructions for student-athletes in a specific area.
Monitors the academic progress of student-athletes and provide encouragement, support and referral assistance as appropriate; assists with student athletes once they have arrived and settled on campus to integrate with basketball and academic requirements.
Assist in the day-to-day operations, including but not limited to video breakdown, travel plans, equipment and budget management. Assist with identification, evaluation and recruitment of student-athletes Implement and develop fundraising strategies to support annual operating budget.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach. Comply with ASC/NCAA rules and regulations and support NCAA DII / Program Philosophy and Mission Promote your program (on campus, in the community, outside the community ā speeches to local organizations, player volunteer work, camps, etc.)
Assist with playoffs (if hosting)
Attends attend clinics or engages in professional development to enhance coaching skills as permitted by the departmentās budget and outlined in the professional development plan.

Represents the University on and off the court in a positive fashion.
Maintain appropriate relationships and communicate appropriately with Alumni, SAās, Team, Coaching Staff, Community, and JCSU. Other duties as assigned by Athletic Director.
Oversees all aspects of Womenās Basketball recruiting operations; manages all operations and logistical areas of recruiting prospective student-athletes for Womenās Basketball. This includes maintenance of the team recruit database (NCAA ELGIBILITY CENTER), assists with developing recruiting strategies, planning and executing the annual recruiting calendar, and coordinating all official visits.
Bachelorās degree: collegiate coaching and/or playing experience is required. The successful candidates must possess strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills; the ability to recruit prospective student athletes; proficiency and thorough knowledge of the game of basketball; a commitment to excellence, sensitivity to cultural differences and a commitment to the mission and values of Johnson C. Smith University and the Department of Athletics. The position requires significant travel. Proficiency with computer applications, general office software and knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations required. CPR/AED Certification is required within 30 days of hire.
