Job Purpose

Reporting to the Head Women’s Soccer Coach, the Assistant Coach performs all duties necessary to support a nationally competitive Division I program in the Big South Conference while adhering to

NCAA

, Big South Conference and Winthrop rules and regulations.

Job Summary

Assists the Head Coach in preparing the women’s soccer team to compete for Big South and

NCAA

Division I championships: Assists with daily preparation and coordination of team practices; manages data analytics and produces scouting reports; and assists with the development of strategic game plans, including offense and defense.

Assists with operations, including team travel, recruiting, equipment management, scheduling and budget.

Coordinates with coaching staff to create an enhanced learning environment and promote diversity, equity and inclusion; inspires and motivates student-athletes to succeed academically, athletically and professionally; and works closely with athletic trainers,academic and student services, and athletic performance staff to monitor the overall progress of student-athletes.

Assists in identifying and recruiting highly skilled student-athletes.

Helps plan and participates in fundraising opportunities, alumni events and community service activities.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and at least one year of coaching experience at the college, high school or club level.

Preferred Qualifications

NCAA

Division I playing or coaching experience, including recruiting and counseling and advising student-athletes. Experience with Adobe products and

ARMS

or similar recruiting software. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Summary

Expert knowledge of soccer, including offensive and defensive strategies, and coaching techniques. Working knowledge of

NCAA

and Big South Conference rules and regulations and the ability to apply them. Exceptional organizational, communication, leadership and interpersonal skills. Ability to demonstrate and teach sport-specific skills. Ability to maintain high ethical and moral standards; cultivate an encouraging and inclusive environment; and inspire and motivate student-athletes academically, athletically and professionally. Ability to work a flexible schedule and travel as needed.
