Occupational Summary:
The Assistant Women’s Volleyball Coach provides comprehensive support and assistance in administering all aspects of the intercollegiate women’s Volleyball program. This position will instruct student athletes in the rules and fundamentals of volleyball while also working to develop the whole student both in and out of the classroom.

3. Instruct student athletes in the areas of physical health, team concepts and safety, sometimes working with individual students on various game-day situations.
4. Work with the Athletic Performance Coaches to develop an effective program of physical conditioning designed to improve overall athletic performance and avoid injuries.
5. Encourage the development of psychological, social, and mental skills necessary for the student athletes to be successful in the classroom, on the court, and in future endeavors.
6. Cooperate with Newman University personnel for efficient utilization of shared facilities.
7. Demonstrate a working knowledge of and ability to comply with all NCAA Division II, MIAA Conference, and institutional rules and regulations.
8. Serve as a positive role model for the student athletes by exhibiting ethical and professional conduct at all times that is consistent with the mission of Newman University.
9. Work with the Admissions Department to expedite the registration, admission, and other administrative processing of all student-athletes.
10. Assist with monitoring the eligibility status of student athletes and mentoring student athletes in their academic progress to assure timely progress toward degree completion.
11. Assist with operational planning and business office paperwork, as needed.
12. Assist with planning and conducting basketball camps, clinics, or leagues as needed, in accordance with NCAA guidelines.
13. Assist with team travel arrangements and transporting teams to competition.
14. Participate in fundraising, promotional, and public relations events within the community, including on-campus and off-campus, specifically booster club activities and community engagement/service projects.
15. Assist with submitting all NCAA Division II compliance documentation as requested by the Associate AD of Compliance and the Director of Athletics.
16. Complete all University-required trainings including Title IX and FERPA.
17. Contribute to the overall success of the Athletics Department by performing all other duties as assigned and appropriate to the position.

Required Qualifications/Education/Experience/Skills/Training: 1. Bachelor’s degree preferred; some college required. 2. Must possess a valid driver’s license and pass a motor vehicle check. 3. Working knowledge of the rules and ability to teach critical skills required. 4. Experience competing at a collegiate level is preferred. 5. Ability to recruit and retain qualified student-athletes and to facilitate timely progress toward graduation. 6. Effective oral and written communication skills. 7. Thorough knowledge of NCAA Division II rules and regulations preferred and ability to pass the NCAA Division II recruiting test prior to beginning duties at Newman University. Certification must occur on an annual basis (Bylaw 11.5.1.1). 8. Sound human relations skills in dealing with student-athletes, university personnel, and members of the off-campus community. 9. Ability to objectively evaluate physical skills in the areas of physical potential and mental capability for intercollegiate athletics. 10. Must be able to work evenings and weekends, as necessary. 11. Must be able to be certified in First Aid and CPR, as required by NCAA rules. 12. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Physical Requirements: (Indoor) 1. Position requires durability. 2. Health and safety factors to be considered include injuries from court related activities and training responsibilities.

Institutional staff members found in violation of NCAA regulations shall be subject to disciplinary or corrective action as set forth in the provisions of the NCAA enforcement procedures, including suspension of pay or termination of employment for significant or repetitive violations, whether such violations occurred at the certifying institution or during the individual’s previous employment at another member institution. It shall be the responsibility of the head coach to promote an atmosphere of compliance within the program and to monitor the activities regarding compliance of all assistant coaches and other administrators within the program who report directly or indirectly to the head coach (Bylaw 11.1.2.1)._
