Job Description

The University of Iowa Department of Athletics seeks applications for an Assistant Women’s Wrestling Coach. This is a full-time (at-will and FLSA-exempt) position which includes full University benefits. The University of Iowa is an NCAA Division I institution and a member of the Big Ten Conference. The Department of Athletics manages 22 varsity sports programs and related events with a workforce of approximately 250 regular employees and 300 temporary employees. Responsibilities: The Assistant Coach is responsible for providing administrative, instructional and coaching assistance to the Head Coach with the purpose of building a successful, competitive intercollegiate sports program that also retains and graduates student-athletes.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or international equivalent);
  • Three years of men’s or women’s wrestling coaching experience at the intercollegiate, high school, club, international, USA, or developmental program level and/or experience as a world class/professional wrestling athlete with proven competitive success and leadership abilities;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, as demonstrated through public speaking engagements, clinician experience, and/or use of effective and creative training/coaching techniques;
  • Professional experience working effectively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trusting relationships;
  • Demonstrated leadership development skills;
  • Extensive knowledge of and ability to:

    • Effectively teach, coach and train all positions;
