JOB TITLE: Assistant Wrestling Coach - Graduate Assistant
CLASSIFICATION:12-month, Part-time
REPORTS TO: Head Wrestling Coach and Athletic Director
DEPARTMENT: Athletics
LOCATION: Grand Rapids, MI
SUMMARY: Cornerstone University invites applications for the position of Men’s Wrestling Graduate Assistant. The successful candidate will be actively involved in recruitment, retention, and day-to-day operations of the Cornerstone University wrestling program. Cornerstone is a member of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference and the NAIA. The core of Cornerstone University is defined and driven by its Christ-centered mission and Biblical confession.
COMPENSATION: Full tuition benefit, not including fees and books, subject to financial aid guidelines. General stipend offered.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serve as recruiter for the sport of wrestling
identify and evaluate potential students with interest
Organize recruitment in conjunction with the Office of Admissions
Assist with organization of some aspects of the program, including coaching and management of facility, practice and team operations.
Help execute team fundraising efforts, including participation in camps and clinics
Manage uniform and equipment maintenance and inventory
Assist with student-athlete study table coverage and coordination
Project and promote an inclusive education with the highest standards, where student-athletes are empowered to lead lives of personal significance and professional success as global citizens
Act as an ambassador of the university and conduct oneself in a positive manner to heighten the awareness of the institution to all of its constituents
Operate within the mission of the university and athletics department to ensure a full NAIA student-athlete experience
Follow all institutional, WHAC and NAIA regulations regarding wrestling and athletics in general
18 hours/week maximum, up to 936 hours/year maximum

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree required
Acceptance into a Cornerstone University Master’s Degree program
Commitment to Cornerstone University’s Christian values
Prior experience as collegiate wrestler or previous coaching experience
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
Ability to work nights and weekends
Willingness and ability to work cooperatively with student employees, coaches, and athletic personnel
Ability to be approved to drive 12-passenger van
Ability to meet daily requirements of coaching wrestling (lifting, running, wrestling technique, etc.)
Ability to move and lift athletic equipment required for various event setup needs
Must be able to walk and be on feet frequently
Ability to frequently lift up to 50 pounds
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
A personal relationship with Jesus Christ and an active Christian commitment.
