The University of Akron, a NCAA Division I (FBS) institution is currently accepting applications for an Associate AD for Compliance position. This position will direct a service-oriented and comprehensive compliance department, providing direct oversight of the athletics compliance program. Ensures the
department’s compliance with NCAA, Mid-American Conference (MAC) and University rules and regulations. Provides guidance to administrators, coaches, and staff regarding such rules and regulations while directing various related functions within the department.
Essential Functions:
• Oversee and ensures all processes, procedures, and systems necessary to direct the Athletic Department to comply with NCAA, MAC and University rules and regulations for all NCAA sport programs (including, but not limited to, departmental compliance software, rules education for various constituencies).
• Monitor internal and external financial aid/benefits, recruiting, personnel, playing/practice seasons, and camps/clinics.
• Collaborate with Associate AD for Student-Athlete Academic Services, Office of the Registrar, and Admissions to ensure student-athletes (incoming and continuing) meet all applicable enrollment and progress toward degree (PTD) requirements
• Research and provides rules interpretations, in collaboration with appropriate NCAA and MAC colleagues.
• Submit applicable reports to the NCAA and coordinates audits and periodic compliance reviews (both internal and external) while operating within the scope and intent of the NCAA, MAC, and University regulations.
• Oversee compliance staff, including any graduate assistants, interns, or student volunteers.
• Other duties as assigned by athletics leadership team.
Education:
Requires a relevant Bachelor's Degree.
Experience:
Requires a minimum of four (4) year’s experience in collegiate athletics or related field. Significant knowledge of NCAA rules and NCAA compliance software (preferred: Teamworks/ARMS) required. Ability to direct and perform detailed work under strict time constraints required. Basic computer knowledge including word processing, spreadsheet and database software packages required. Strong
