Position Summary

The Associate Athletic Director for Compliance reports to the University President with an indirect reporting line to the University Chief of Staff and the Director of Athletics (or designee). This position will lead the departmental athletics compliance program by creating, maintaining and monitoring a compliant environment that results in clear institutional control. This position leads the Athletics Compliance Office and oversees the management of all processes, procedures, and systems necessary to assist the department in complying with

, conference, and any other essential governing bodies rules and regulations for 16

NCAA

Division I men’s and women’s intercollegiate sports. Oversight includes the investigations of rules violations in consultation with internal and external constituents as needed, reporting requirements, and appeal and waiver processes. The position is responsible for necessary training and development of two full-time AP employees and for fostering a commitment to diversity and inclusiveness within the compliance office.

Required Job Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in management, communications, sport management, liberal arts,

HES

, or any other field related to duties and responsibilities.

A minimum of six years of progressive experience and leadership in

NCAA

compliance

Comprehensive knowledge of and commitment to

NCAA

rules and regulations; and ability to understand, interpret, and provide regular compliance feedback and information to coaches, staff, students, and other constituents.

Strong demonstrated experience with

NCAA

technological processes including but not limited to Compliance Assistant, LSDBi,

APR

, and transfer portal.

Proficiency with researching, compiling and analyzing data, preparing, writing, and reviewing reports.

Strong written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage and relate to a diverse group of coaches, staff, student-athletes, donors, faculty and constituents.

Experience working with internal constituents such as Admissions, Residential Life, Registrar’s Office, International Programs, Office of Financial Aid, and Faculty Athletics Representative.

Demonstrated organizational abilities with strong attention to detail.

Demonstrated ability to research and provide solutions to compliance-related problems or issues.

Demonstrated high personal and professional standards.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

Ability to work occasional evenings and/or weekends, and travel when necessary

Essential Duties

- Lead the management and day-to-day leadership of a comprehensive Division I FBS compliance program including but not limited to recruiting, eligibility, personnel, admissions, financial aid, practice and competition, awards and benefits, and name, image, likeness. - Implement and oversee all processes, procedures, compliance policies, and systems necessary to assist the department in complying with NCAA, conference, and other necessary governing bodies’ rules and regulations for 16 NCAA Division I men’s and women’s intercollegiate athletics including Division I-FBS. - Serve as the institutional liaison to the conference and NCAA departments including but not limited to enforcement, reinstatement, academic and membership affairs, and Eligibility Center. - Administer appeal and waiver requests to both the conference and NCAA. - Investigate and report rules violations in conformity with the institutional violation policy and NCAA and conference regulations. Provide ongoing communication to the President’s Office and Director of Athletics (or designee) regarding rules violations. - Oversee the preparation of NCAA squad lists and eligibility certifications. - Oversee completion and submission of NCAA reports and surveys including the institution’s NCAA APR report, GSR; and federal graduation reports. - Provide department oversight of necessary procedures for department’s sports camps and clinics. - Provide delegation and oversight of compliance related responsibilities to compliance staff - Maintain relevant computer databases and records that meet institutional, NCAA, and conference requirements to ensure successful execution of compliance procedures. - Ensure a culture of compliance with an emphasis of promptly reporting knowledge of any institutional, NCAA, or conference rules violations.
