Job Description

This position oversees the compliance program for the ISU Athletic Department. The Associate Athletic Director for Compliance is responsible for developing, administering, and executing policies and processes to support compliance with NCAA, Big Sky Conference (BSC), and University rules/policies and procedures.

This position reports directly to the University General Counsel and will provide leadership as part of the university compliance team; is expected to provide proactive, customer-service oriented services; be a self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously; take dedicated ownership of projects; demonstrate high ethical standards; exhibit a strong commitment to the university's mission; and employ excellent interpersonal skills. Flexible work arrangements may be considered as appropriate based on the needs of the office and the position.

Key Responsibilities

Compliance Oversight: The Associate Athletic Director for Compliance will execute and/or oversee the following duties, for which the position is ultimately responsible:
- Serve as Senior Compliance Administrator and primary liaison to the NCAA and Big Sky Conference.
- Develop, implement, and oversee a comprehensive compliance program that ensures adherence to NCAA, conference, and institutional rules and regulations.
- Advise and educate athletic department leadership, coaches, staff, and student-athletes on compliance issues, while monitoring and enforcing adherence to NCAA, BSC, and institutional rules on eligibility, recruiting, financial aid, NIL, transfer portal, amateurism, ethical conduct, playing/practice seasons, and other related areas.
- Design and deliver rules education programs for coaches, staff, student-athletes, and other key stakeholders.
- Manage student-athlete eligibility certification in coordination with academic services, the Registrar, Faculty Athletics Representative, and compliance staff.
- Maintain compliance records and reporting systems, including rosters, squad lists, participation data, and NCAA attestations.
- Monitor recruiting activities, transfer portal entries, playing/practice seasons, student-athlete benefits, and approve camps/clinics.
- Oversee athletics financial aid and National Letter of Intent processes, including offers, agreements, renewals, reductions, cancellations, and summer aid administration for incoming first-year, undergraduate transfer, and grad transfer students.
- Collaborate with the University’s Title IX Coordinator and related offices to ensure compliance with policies on discrimination, harassment, and mandatory reporting.
- Investigate, document, and report potential NCAA, conference, and institutional rule violations; prepare waiver requests and manage compliance-related submissions.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall compliance program.

Sport Oversight:
- The Associate Athletic Director for Compliance may serve as a Sport Administrator for one (1) intercollegiate athletic team as assigned by the Director of Athletics and approved by the General Counsel.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree.
Evidence of at least three years professional experience working with collegiate athletics.
Demonstrated understanding of NCAA rules and regulations.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to build strong internal and external relationships.
Strong computer and technical skills to support utilization of various university systems, institutional and national databases, Big Sky Conference and NCAA portals and resources, and other technology-based tools and subscriptions.

Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in Division I athletics compliance.
Previous experience in a supervisory role.

Additional Information

Salary will be between $75,000 and $85,000 per year, commensurate with education and experience.
