Job Summary

BYU's Athletic Trainers assist in providingathletic training services and health care for their BYU assigned teams (with the possibility serving other teams as well); provide medical coverage of the BYU sports medicine facilities as assigned; and serve as a clinical instructor and supervisor for athletic training students in BYU's curriculum program in the Exercise Science Department.

Duties/Expectations :

• Evaluate injuries/illnesses for assigned athletic teams:
• Provide safe and effective treatments for injuries and illnesses within the certified athletic trainer's scope of practice and within the guidelines of sound medical practice.
• Make referrals for athletes to other health care professionals as needed.
• Communicate with coaches regarding the health status and limitations of athletes.
• Supervise student athletic trainers assigned to sport and serve as a clinical instructor to assigned students.
• Counsel with athletes and parents regarding their health status and options available for treatment.
• Maintain accurate records of injuries, illnesses, treatments, and referrals.

What Qualifies You to Apply?

Required :

• Master's Degree (Must have required degree by start date)
• 3 years of NATA certification through the BOC
• Knowledgeable in evaluation and care of concussions

Preferred :

• Clinical experience with Division Iathletics
• Clinical skill in massage therapy (but licensure as a massage therapist not required)
