Job Summary

 

Provides assistance to the Spirit Program Head Coach by overseeing the cheerleading program, coaching student athletes, monitoring student athlete academic progress, scheduling, managing travel, and overseeing the discipline, conduct, and image of the student athlete.

• Plans coaching and practice sessions in accordance with NCAA and Conference regulations. Teaches individual/groups specific tasks and skills
• Oversee the cheerleading program within the framework of policies or affiliated national, regional and state association, Conference, and University rules.
• Coaches team members individually and in groups to demonstrate game techniques. Manages a designated skill development area or group of positions as necessary.
• Develops and recommends choreography for routine and competition.
• Recruits quality prospective student-athletes and ensures the timely submission of their academic records for admissions. Participates in recruitment.

• Works to complete student's development through graduation by assisting with academic needs in conjunction with the Student Athlete Academic Center (SAAC) staff. Establishes requirements for student athletes to ensure successful Academic Progress.
• Ensures the athletic department is in compliance with all institutional, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations, including the development and implementation of procedures by which compliance will be determined and documented.
• Adhere to all State of Florida, University, NCAA, Conference USA, and department rules and policies pertaining to the position of Assistant Dazzler Coach. Report any known NCAA Violations or concerns to the director of Athletic Compliance and be responsible for the monitoring of any subordinate as it relates to NCAA regulations.
• Attends and supervises all home Football games and select Basketball games.
• Responsible for routine and competition choreography.
• Performs related duties as assigned or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor assigning duties that are logically related to position.
• Oversee the team uniform/apparel design as well as ordering equipment.
• Oversee and manage all communications through the official Cheer program email account, while performing various administrative tasks to ensure the efficient operation of the program.

Minimum Qualifications

 

Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of related coaching experience at the high school level or above; OR Master's degree in appropriate area of specialization; OR six (6) years of related coaching experience at the high school level or above; OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience. Successful experience as a graduate assistant or intern in an athletic program is acceptable with one (1) year of the required experience.
