The University of Arizona welcomes applications for the role of Associate Director, Medical Services and Head Football Athletic Trainer. This position will be responsible for the leadership, vision, and operations of the Intercollegiate Athletics Football Sports Medicine Department.
This position requires the ability work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, and travel as needed.

Manager athletic training services for Football program and student-athletes.
Oversee a team of Athletic Trainers for football, providing guidance and oversight with all aspects of medical coverage for student-athletes.
Provide team sports medicine care as needed. Individual will be responsible for sport oversight of the Football program.
Oversee Athletic Trainers and the Head Team Physician in their oversight of physician coverage for football.
Managing logistical support for football, including travel details, food support, and lodging.
Manage athletic training facilities (Lowell Stevens Football Facility and Davis Indoor Sports Facility).
Manage the administration budgets for football training including the operating costs of the department, medical expenses, sport interest group accounts, and scholarship endowment accounts.
Supervise medical billing and authorize payment for medical services through the Lowell Stevens Sports Medicine Center.
Oversee the utilization of endowment funds as specified by the donors and work with Development in nurturing relationships with donors.
Establish in concert with the Head Athletic Trainer and the Director of Athletic Medical Services guidelines for providing medical care to student-athletes.
Develop and maintain a good working relationship between the Lowell Stevens Sports Medicine Center and other student service units (Strength and Conditioning, Academics, Equipment, Personal Development, Administration, and Sport Psychology).
Organize and manage pre-participation physical evaluations for football program.
Create policies and procedures related to establishing and maintaining a medical record keeping system for use in the Lowell Stevens Sports Medicine Center.
Manage the process of recruiting and hiring assistant and graduate assistant athletic trainers according to university guidelines.
Manage budget for all nutritional supplements, replacement drinks, vitamins, etc. that are provided for student-athletes.
Supervise all student workers.
Supervise any persons who may use facilities, including but not limited to University of Arizona student-athletes and staff, visiting student-athletes, and non-student-athletes. Instruct staff on how to use medical facilities.
Additional duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge and understanding of NCAA rules and regulations regarding compliance issues.
High level of communication skills and ability to work well with administrators, staff, student-athletes, physicians, and parents.
Track record of athletic training competency.
Teamwork and team-building skills.
Good decision-making skills in critical or emergency situations.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
Minimum of 7 years of related work experience, including 3 years of managerial experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
National Athletic Trainers Association certification.
Current CPR certification.
Eligibility for State of Arizona Athletic Training license.
Master’s Degree in a related field of study.
Eight years of experience working in the industry.
Three years of managerial experience.
Three years of Football experience.
Teaching experience.
Certified CPR and AED instructor.
Experience working with insurance and billing.
Experience with hiring and budgeting.
Previous experience overseeing those working with football, including mentoring.
