Southeastern Louisiana University's Athletic Department invites applications for the position of Associate Director for Sports Communications. The Associate Director for Sports Communications leads and manages the communications strategy for assigned athletic teams. This role oversees all media and public relations, social media, and creative content creation to enhance the university's brand and student-athlete reputations. The successful candidate serves as a primary spokesperson and liaison to the media and public, responsible for crafting compelling narratives and building strong relationships with journalists. Additionally, this position acts as on-air talent for live radio and online broadcasts, providing play-by-play commentary and color analysis, and involves supervising student workers and interns.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university. Interpersonal communication skills to interact effectively with a variety of clients, support staff, and external media.
The ability to accept feedback as part of the creative process.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university. Master’s degree from an accredited university. Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations with continuing education or professional NCAA work experience.
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Strong attention to detail and thorough understanding of branding/identity standards
Highly organized and multi-task orientated with strong attention to time management
Exceptional interpersonal, presentation, oral, and written communication skills.
Strong leadership skills
