ASSOCIATE HEAD COACH - WOMEN'S SOFTBALL - (T238398)

Description

 

Assists the Head Coach with coaching, recruiting, organizing, planning and conducting team practices for a designated sports program by using working knowledge of skills to prepare game and practice plans to benefit the growth of the student athletes in the sport. Assists in scheduling of all games. Oversees academic progress of student athletes in cooperation with academic advisors. Counsels student athletes as needed in academic, disciplinary and personal matters. Coordinates summer employment for student athletes. Serves as a liaison between any professional contacts and UAB student athletes. Represents the Head Coach at meetings and/or media events (radio/TV show, etc.) when Head Coach is unable to make such appearances. Serves as primary contact for the sports program to monitor and communicate academic progress and eligibility issues to Head Coach and/or Assistant Coaches. Has oversight for the operating budget in conjunction with the sports administrator. Adheres to all institutional, Conference USA (C-USA), National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), policy and accreditation procedures in running the designated sports program. Reports all known NCAA violations in accordance with institutional, C-USA and NCAA policies and guidelines. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with the Head Coach to develop strategies, game plans, and practice schedules.
  • Helps coordinate and manage the team's preparation for practices and competitions.
  • Works with individual players to improve skills, technique, and overall performance.
  • Tracks and evaluates player progress, helping identify areas for improvement.
  • Takes on a leadership role within the team, setting an example for discipline, work ethic, and professionalism.
  • Assists in the recruitment process by identifying and evaluating potential recruits
  • Ensures that the team follows the rules and regulations set forth by the governing sports organizations (e.g., NCAA, conference, league).
