POSITION SUMMARY:
The Assistant Athletic Trainer is responsible for the clinical application and administration of comprehensive health care services for sports as assigned by the Associate Athletic Director for Sports Medicine and Student-Athlete Welfare. This individual will be an integral part of the Sports Medicine Team who must build professional relationships with student-athletes, athletic and University department staff, parents, and the medical community. Additionally, the Assistant Athletic Trainer will be responsible for administrative duties as assigned, and will assist the Associate Athletic Director for Sports Medicine with the supervision of 3 part-time intern certified athletic trainers.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinate and deliver all medical coverage and services for assigned team including prevention, recognition, evaluation and treatment of athletic injuries, acute care and emergency response to athletic injuries, rehabilitation and reconditioning of athletic injuries and health care administration.
Communicate with Team Physicians, Coaching Staff, Strength and Conditioning Staff, and other essential personnel, both written and verbal reports on the health status of each student-athletes.
Administrative Duties as assigned by, and under the direction of, the Associate Athletic Director for Sports Medicine.
Assist the Associate Athletic Director for Sports Medicine with the supervision of 3 part time intern athletic trainers and student employees.
Provide feedback and mentoring to intern athletic trainer in a collaborative effort for paired sport assignments.

Supervise athletic training aide program of work study students that assist in set up, break down and distribution of hydration supplies for football practice.

Student-Athlete Family Coordinator – to communicate regarding questions family members have about medical issues.
Assistant Athletic Director for Communications – to provide communication to media about medical issues and update sports medicine website.
Student Health Center – Referral and disability assessment of student-athletes.
Counseling and Psychological Services – Referral for student-athletes with mental health needs.
Strength & Conditioning – Supervision of health and safety and communication of injured student-athlete limitations.
Campus Police – to collaborate on emergency response.
Physical Plant – To conduct facility maintenance and repair
Custodial Services – To collaborate on the sanitation of medical facilities.
Campus Nutritionist – To provide education and counseling to student-athletes.
Team Physicians and Consulting Subspecialist – To provide medical services to student-athletes.
Resource Exchange Center – to provide nutritional supplements and drug education.

Assist the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine with supervision of part-time intern athletic trainers paired with Assistant Athletic Trainer’s primary sport assignments.

Salary: Grade level 5 Exempt ($41,018 to $54,350)
Scheduled Hours: 38.75 hours per week. Schedule will vary, required to work early mornings, late nights, weekends, travel, and be on-call as a regular part of the job.
