The Assistant Coach for Track & Field will assist the Director of Track and Field/Cross Country in coaching, management, recruiting and administration for the sprints and hurdles group with the track and field/cross country program.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Coaches practice sessions and workouts. Assists in coaching during athletic events. Attend coaches’ preparatory meetings and implement competition strategies.
  • Develops a comprehensive and functional knowledge of the sport and maintains thorough and continual familiarity with all applicable University and NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Responsible for recruiting high level track and field athletes. Establish relationships with high school and junior college coaches. Attend domestic and international competitions to recruit athletes
  • Complete special projects assigned by the Director of Track and Field/Cross Country and assistant track and field coaches.
  • Assist with any administrative duties assigned by the Director of Track and Field/Cross Country
  • Responsible for maintaining compliance with NCAA, Atlantic Coast Conference, institutional and departmental policies and procedures. Attend monthly compliance meetings. Attend athletic staff education sessions
  • Responsible for all other duties as assigned by Director of Track and Field/Cross Country
  • Implements appropriate risk management strategies at all times; engages in regular consultation with athletic training and other department sports medicine personnel to maximize the safety and wellness of student-athletes; and always demonstrates concern for the overall welfare of students.
  • Monitors and encourages the regular progress toward an academic degree of those student-athletes who are on the Team, and making reasonable and good faith efforts, in cooperation with the University's faculty, administration and the academic support unit for student-athletes, to meet all student-athlete’s academic requirements.
