Job Summary:

Drake Athletics is seeking an individual to serve as an assistant coach (10-month) of the softball program. This includes assisting with recruiting, practice sessions, game preparation and serving as a point of contact with all stakeholders. A focused area of responsibility will be development of skills of the pitching staff. Incumbent must be dedicated to the academic, athletic, and personal development of student-athletes and promote the mission and values of Drake University and Drake Athletics.

Job Duties:

• 60% - Assist in the development and execution of effective practice and competition plans, including pre-and post-season conditioning programs. Provide feedback, including explanations and demonstrations, to student-athletes related to athletic technique and skill development and to achieve proficiency. Game preparation including video and statistical review is required. - (Essential)
• 10% - Support a positive academic, athletic, and social environment for student-athletes within the softball program creating a culture of excellence and ethics. - (Essential)
• 10% - Assist in recruiting and retaining talented student-athletes who represent the Drake prototype in communication with the Head Coach. - (Essential)
• 10% - Responsible for the coordination of team and alumni events. - (Essential)
• 5% - Demonstrate appropriate communication as it relates to internal (coaching staff, student-athletes, athletics staff) and external (fans, parents, alumni, prospects, campus community, etc.) - (Essential)
