The Department of Athletics invites applications for a full-time, twelve-month, contractual position limited with benefits. The position reports to the Assistant Athletic Director for Academics. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. The Athletic Academic Advisor is responsible for providing academic advising and support for student-athletes to ensure that they make satisfactory/appropriate academic progress towards graduation and meet all university, conference, and NCAA eligibility requirements.
Meets with student-athletes to advise them on academically-related issues, objective-based study hall requirements and or any other issues. Advises a diverse population of student-athletes in regards to their academic progress towards degree. This includes pre-advisement for course registrations as it relates to their major requirements. Facilitates student-athletes academic progress by evaluating their needs and developing appropriate academic plans. Maintains student-athletes academic files that include a record of the advising activity that takes place during each visit. Monitors student-athletes regarding NCAA rules for satisfactory progress towards degree completion requirements. Supports academic and department programs/functions. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree One-year experience working with student-athletes at the intercollegiate level. Experience advising/counseling student-athletes.
Demonstrated experience working with individuals from diverse socio-economic, ethnic and cultural backgrounds. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills. Ability to work non-traditional hours, including occasional nights/weekends, and travel. Ability to independently manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
